Alberta Health Services is seeking a Nurse Practitioner for the Recovery Alberta program in Lethbridge. This role focuses on providing patient-centered healthcare, managing complex health conditions, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to address issues including mental health and addiction. Your Opportunity:
We are looking for a Nurse Practitioner (NP) with experience in patient-centered, trauma-informed, and recovery-based care for the Recovery Alberta, Intensive Adult Outreach Team in Lethbridge, Alberta. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team this position will provide concurrent support to individuals who require treatment in place for a variety of medical conditions including acute & chronic disease management, wound care and STBBI testing/treatment. Services will be community-based and recovery-oriented for adults experiencing severe and persistent mental illness, addiction, and homelessness. You will work in collaboration with community partner teams, Recovery Alberta, AHS and non-AHS based to collaboratively provide care to individuals whose lives have been impacted by unstable housing, socioeconomic factors, and substances. The primary focus of the Nurse Practitioner (NP) role is on diagnosing and managing common and complex health conditions, promoting health & preventing illness/injury, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing pharmaceuticals, generating referrals for other services/therapies, performing minor procedures, interventions and/or treatments. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Required Qualifications:
Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
This position provides clinical leadership to a large team and requires sound clinical acumen. Strong communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrating effective time management, independent decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills; and an ability to foster positive relationships within a multidisciplinary team environment are all expectations of this role. Proven ability to work with community stakeholders required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge and/or experience of addiction and/or mental health treatment modalities (e.g., motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and solution-focused therapy) is preferred.
