Job summary

Covenant Health’s Infusion Therapy Clinic – Ambulatory Services in Edmonton seeks a Nurse Practitioner to provide clinical oversight for infusion and specialty therapies and to coordinate care across clinic, community, and home settings.

The NP will work within an MRP model, promoting safe treatment delivery, patient monitoring, and interdisciplinary collaboration, with opportunities in wound care and chronic disease management.

Qualifications

Job description

Join a specialized ambulatory infusion therapy service providing care for patients receiving complex outpatient treatments. Working within an approved Most Responsible Practitioner (MRP) model, the Nurse Practitioner supports patients receiving biologic medications, IV therapies, blood products, and other specialty treatments. This role focuses on safe treatment delivery, patient monitoring, continuity of care, and interdisciplinary collaboration, while offering opportunities to develop expertise in infusion therapy, chronic disease management, wound care, and ambulatory services.You can expect to:Provide clinical oversight for patients receiving infusion and specialty therapies, including assessment, monitoring, follow-up, and medication safety support.Collaborate with wound care teams to support wound and skin health management and ensure continuity of care across clinic, community, and home care settings.Coordinate care among patients, primary care providers, specialists, home care, and community services to facilitate timely access to treatment and follow-up.Contribute to program development, quality improvement initiatives, and the enhancement of ambulatory infusion services and clinical processes.Provide clinical leadership through education, mentorship, knowledge sharing, and support of a collaborative, patient-centered practice environment.

Description:

Reporting to the Senior Director, Operations or Program Manager, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) is employed in a variety of settings across the continuum of care including acute care and continuing care. The NP uses an evidence-informed holistic approach that emphasizes the nursing professions' values, expertise and education. The majority of time is spent in clinical practice where the NP role includes, but is not limited to, diagnosing and managing common and complex health conditions, promoting health and preventing illness/injury, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing pharmaceuticals, medical devises and other therapies and performing procedures, interventions and/or treatments. The NP performs restricted activities within their scope of practice as defined by Schedule 24 of the Health Professions Act, the Registered Nurses Profession Regulations, and the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). In some clinical settings, the NP is considered the most responsible provider. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUNP Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:

Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program at a Master of Nursing level.Must possess relevant and recent clinical expertise within stream of practice.Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) as a Nurse Practitioner.Must be appropriately licensed with the clinical practice stream relevant to area of clinical employment.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Experience in ambulatory care, chronic disease management, infusion therapy, internal medicine, or a related clinical area.Knowledge of specialty medications, biologic therapies, and monitoring considerations.Experience supporting patients with complex and ongoing healthcare needs.Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team.Proficiency with electronic health records and ambulatory documentation systems.Experience with quality improvement, program development, or practice innovation is an asset.

Preferred Qualifications:

Working knowledge of venous access devices and complications related to: Peripheral IV, PICC, Broviac & IVADs.
