Qualifications

  • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
  • Three years recent surgical experience or two years recent Enterostomal Therapy experience.

Job description

Join to apply for the Nurse Clinician, Enterostomal Therapy role at Island Health.

Reporting to the Program Manager or designate, the Nurse Clinician participates in developing, implementing, and evaluating programs/services aligned with Island Health's vision and mission. The role involves utilizing clinical expertise in the assigned area, acting as a resource, providing consultation and education to staff and healthcare teams, supervising staff, and managing patient assessments and education. Travel to other sites within Island Health may be required. The position includes direct patient care, teaching, and problem-solving.

Qualifications:
  • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
  • Graduation from a recognized nursing program with CNA certification in the specialty area or equivalent education and training.
  • Three years recent surgical experience in ostomy, fistula, and wound management, or two years recent Enterostomal Therapy experience, or equivalent.

  • Knowledge of current theories, technologies, and practices in the specialty area.
  • Knowledge of adult and child education principles.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team.
