A leading health authority in Victoria is seeking a Nurse Clinician specializing in Enterostomal Therapy. The role involves providing direct patient care, developing educational programs, and supervising nursing staff. In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a shared responsibility. Continuous improvement in quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Program Manager or designate, the Nurse Clinician participates in developing, implementing, and evaluating programs/services aligned with the Vision and Mission of Island Health. Utilizes clinical expertise to function as a resource, providing consultation and in-service education to nurses, physicians, and other healthcare team members regarding patient care within the specialty area. Supervises staff, assigns work, and is responsible for patient assessment, staff education, and traveling to various sites as required. Provides direct patient care, teaching, and problem-solving.
Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN. Graduation from a recognized nursing program with CNA certification in the specialty area or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At least three years recent surgical experience in ostomy, fistula, and wound management, or two years recent Enterostomal Therapy experience, or an equivalent combination.
