Algonquin College is seeking a part-time on-site nurse to provide health care and education on campus, collaborating with the Health Services team at the Woodroffe Campus in Ottawa. The role supports physicians' clinics, maintains confidential records, and manages medical office needs.

The incumbent brings a BSN or equivalent, Ontario nursing licensing, 5+ years of relevant experience (family practice/occupational health preferred), phlebotomy skills, and EMR experience (PS Suite by Telus).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science, Nursing or equivalent.
  • Ontario College of Nurses Certificate of Competence is required.
  • Five years progressive nursing experience; family practice/ adolescent health/ public health/ occupational health preferred.
  • Phlebotomy experience.
  • Experience with PS Suite EMR software.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • CPR certification is required.
  • TB Screening Training Course required.
  • AED Training required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-campus nursing care and education to students, staff and faculty.
  • Coordinate with Health Services team and physicians' clinics.
  • Maintain confidential health records and medical office supplies.
  • Address non-emergency, episodic, and occupational health concerns.
  • Support health education and preventive care initiatives.

Job Description

Reporting to the Manager of Health Services, the part‑time nurse provides on‑campus health care and education to students, staff and faculty in collaboration with the Health Services team. The incumbent provides nursing services in cases of non‑emergency, emergency, episodic illness, health counselling and occupational health issues. The incumbent facilitates the physicians' clinics, maintains confidential health records and maintains the organizational and supply needs of the medical office.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of four (4) year Bachelor of Science, Nursing degree or equivalent;
  • Certificate of Competence from the Ontario College of Nurses required;
  • Minimum of five (5) years progressive relevant nursing experience with a preference for experience in family practice, adolescent health, public health, sexual health, emergency or occupational health setting;
  • Must have phlebotomy experience;
  • Experience using an Electronic Medical Records system – PS Suite by Telus;
  • Demonstrated skills as a team player;
  • Excellent communication skills – written and spoken;
  • CPR required;
  • TB Screening Training Course required;
  • AED Training required.

This position is paid at Payband K – Comparator.

This position requires regular on‑site work at Algonquin College’s Woodroffe (Ottawa) Campus.
