Job summary

WELL Health Diagnostic Centres in Ontario is seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to perform nuclear medicine procedures including bone, brain, thyroid, liver, and renal scans as part of a busy diagnostic team.

The role offers full-time, part-time, and casual opportunities, requires current AMRT registration, CPR/First Aid, strong English communication, and the ability to work varied shifts, with potential sign-on and relocation bonuses.

Qualifications

  • Current and valid provincial AMR T registration.
  • Knowledge of general nuclear medicine procedures.
  • CPR and First Aid certification maintained.
  • Engages in ongoing staff meetings to maintain competency.
  • Strong English communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Able to work varied shifts and both independently and in a team.
  • Self-evaluate and set personal objectives annually.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure patient ID, safety and prep procedures before exams.
  • Document relevant patient history for each case.
  • Set up and adjust nuclear medicine equipment per protocol.
  • Monitor supplies and report shortages.
  • Perform radiopharmaceutical preparation and quality control.
  • Conduct bone, brain, thyroid, liver/spleen, hepatobiliary, renal, and chest imaging.
  • Manage I‑131 thyroid treatments and related scans.
  • Carry out Rest and Stress MUGA imaging.
  • Maintain quality control and report malfunctions.
  • Follow safety and regulatory guidelines and maintain equipment.
  • Assist other staff as workload requires and participate in ongoing training.

  • Ensure patient identification, safety and preparation procedures are correct before starting nuclearmedicine examinations.
  • Ensure relevant patient history is documented.
  • Inform supervisor, or designated person, of unusual or abnormal cases.
  • Set up and adjust nuclear medicine equipment, maintaining established protocol.
  • Monitor supplies and notify supervisor of shortages.

Performance of Nuclear Medicine Procedures:

  • Radio pharmaceutical preparation and quality management.
  • Bone, brain, thyroid, liver, spleen, hepatobiliary, renal scans and lung.
  • I131 thyroid treatments, Bone Densitometry scans.
  • Venograms, dacrocystograms and testicular scans.
  • Rest and stress MUGA’s.

Quality Control

  • Ensure (and monitor) all quality control assessments are performed as required.

Equipment Maintenance

  • Observe and report all malfunctions in nuclear medicine equipment.
  • Follow manufacturer's guidelines for operation, maintenance and minor trouble shooting.

Reporting

  • Ensure all abnormal and urgent cases are handled as outlined in departmental guidelines.

Safety

  • Clean, tidy and disinfect nuclear medicine equipment and change rooms.
  • Follow established health and safety procedures.

Regulations

  • Comply with all Company and Government Regulations.
  • Maintain continuing CMRTO registration and medical educational requirements necessary for ongoingcertification.

Other

  • Under direction of the supervisor/clinic manager, assists other staff members when workload iscompleted.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Rest and Stress myocardial imaging.

Qualifications, Experience & Requirements:

  • Current and valid Certificate of Registration with the Association of Medical Radiation Technologists ofthe relevant province.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in general nuclear medicine procedures.
  • Maintain current CPR and First Aid certificate.
  • Maintain competence in position by attending staff meetings.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, good command of the English language and excellentcommunication skills.
  • Ability to work varying shifts and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Self-evaluate performance, establish personal objectives and participate in yearly staff performancereview.

This role is for an existing vacancy. The expected hiring range for this role is from $41 - $44 per hour. Final compensation is determined based on market location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience level, and internal equity. Candidates with significantly more experience may be considered at a higher level with adjusted compensation for certain roles.
