Qualifications

  • Accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology diploma or bachelor’s degree in medicalRadiation Sciences.
  • Current and valid Certificate of Registration with the Association of Medical Radiation Technologists of Alberta.
  • Current BLS Certification
  • WHMIS
  • Knowledge and proficiency in general nuclear medicine procedures.
  • Proficiency in Velox and computer programs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform nuclear medicine procedures including bone, brain, thyroid, liver, spleen, hepatobiliary, renal scans and lung imaging.
  • Maintain quality control and document results as required.
  • Observe and report malfunctions of nuclear medicine equipment and follow manufacturer guidelines.
  • Ensure safe handling and administration of radioactive materials; adhere to safety protocols.

Performance of Nuclear Medicine Procedures:
  • Radio, pharmaceutical preparation, and quality managementt.
  • Bone, brain, thyroid, liver, spleen, hepatobiliary, renal scans and lung.
  • I131 thyroid treatments, RBC liver/spleen scans.
  • Nuclear cardiology tests including myocardial perfusion imaging, MUGA’s, and viability studies.
Quality Control:
  • Ensure (and monitor) all quality control assessments are performed asrequired.
Equipment Maintenance:
  • Observe and report all malfunctions in nuclear medicine equipment.
  • Follow manufacturer’s guidelines for operation, maintenance and minor trouble shooting.
Reporting:
  • Sign all required documentation.
  • Ensure abnormal and urgent cases are handled as outlined in departmental guidelines.
Safety:
  • Clean, tidy, and disinfect nuclear equipment, change rooms and restroom.
  • Follow established health and safety procedures.
  • May bedesignatedas Site RSO to perform duties associated with Radiation Protection Program, coordinating with the Corporate RSO when necessary.
Regulations:
  • Comply withall Company and Government Regulations.
  • Maintain continuing ARMDS registration and medical educational requirements necessary for ongoing certification.
Ancillary Duties May Include, but are not limited to:
  • Under the direction of the supervisor/manager, assists other staff members when workload is completed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Rest andStressmyocardial imaging.
Qualifications, Experience & Requirements:
  • 0-2 years of related experience – open to hiring new graduates!
  • Accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology diploma or abachelor’s degree in medicalRadiation Sciences
  • Currentand valid Certificate of Registration with the Association of Medical Radiation Technologists of Alberta.
