Job summary

Providence Healthcare is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, Bone Densitometry to deliver safe, accurate, patient-focused nuclear medicine services.

Reporting to the Supervisor, you will perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, prepare patients, operate equipment, and ensure quality control while adhering to safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• CAMRT Nuclear Medicine certification required.
• 12 CME/CE credits in bone densitometry or CBDT/ISCD equivalent.
• CPR (BCLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Perform nuclear medicine and bone densitometry procedures per policy.
• Prepare patients, operate equipment, monitor during procedures, and dispense radiopharmaceuticals.
• Conduct routine quality control and handle radioactive waste per guidelines.

Salary

The salary range for this position is CAD $40.19/Hr. - CAD $50.20/Hr.

Summary

We’re looking for a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, Bone Densitometry to join our team and help deliver safe, accurate, and patient-focused nuclear medicine services!

Reporting to the Supervisor, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist, Bone Densitometry, performs:

• Diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine and bone densitometry procedures in accordance with departmental policies.
• Preparing patients for examination, operating nuclear medicine and bone densitometry equipment, monitoring patient during procedures, preparing and dispensing and administering radiopharmaceuticals.
• Routine quality control tests on imaging equipment, monitors area utilizing appropriate detection devices and disposes of radioactive substances and contaminated items by following established guidelines.

What You Bring

Education, Training, and Experience

• Certification with the CAMRT (Nuclear Medicine).
• Successful completion of 12 CME/CE credits in bone densitometry or current or previous CBDT or CDT certification with the International Society for Clinical Densitometry (ISCD) or equivalent as approved by DAP.
• Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification - Basic Life Support (BCLS) level.

Skills and Abilities

• Working knowledge of Picture Archiving and Communications Systems (PACS), i.e. digital imaging, image archiving and retrieval.
• Demonstrated knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with nuclear medicine equipment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission Regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to perform radioisotope examinations in compliance with departmental standards.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of Bone Densitometry protocols, applications and equipment with understanding of the principles of Bone Density including positioning, pathology as well as related patient care techniques.
• Demonstrated knowledge of research process and methodology.
• Demonstrated knowledge of PACS/Radiology Information Systems, i.e. digital imaging, image archiving and retrieval.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate (orally and in writing) and deal effectively with clients and their families, coworkers, physicians, other health care staff, and staff of external agencies.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
• Demonstrated ability to plan and establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
• Demonstrated ability in CPR techniques.
• Demonstrated computer skills with current computer applications.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
