Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform PET/CT and Nuclear Medicine procedures with patient prep, positioning and image acquisition.
• Monitor patients, administer radiopharmaceuticals and contrast as required, and manage IV access.
• Ensure safety with ALARA principles and maintain quality control of equipment.
• Operate and troubleshoot PET/CT and Nuclear Medicine systems and document results.
• Maintain radiation safety, infection control and proper disposal of radioactive materials.

The salary range for this position is CAD $43.24/Hr. - CAD $54.01/Hr.

The hours of work, including start and stop times, days off, work area and work site may be subject to change consistent with operations requirements and applicable provisions of the Collective Agreement and statutes.

We are actively hiring for 3 regular full-time positions, offering an exciting opportunity to join our specialized Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT team and build a long-term career.

Reporting to the Supervisor, you’ll

• Work as part of a collaborative health care team, performing a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures and PET/CT examinations while supporting patients throughout their imaging experience. This role combines advanced imaging technology, specialized clinical knowledge and hands‑on patient care to help produce high‑quality diagnostic information that supports timely and effective treatment decisions.
• Prepare and support patients throughout procedures, operate nuclear medicine, PET/CT and computerized imaging equipment, prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals, start IVs and administer iodinated contrast, and monitor patients to ensure their comfort and safety.
• Play an important role in maintaining the quality and safety of the imaging environment through equipment quality control, radiation monitoring and the safe handling and disposal of radioactive materials.

Education, Training, And Experience

• Graduation from a recognized program in Nuclear Medicine Technology and certification with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) in Nuclear Medicine plus three (3) years recent experience in Nuclear Medicine.
• Completion of a recognized certificate in Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography (PET/CT) or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Completion of an Intravenous Therapy training course, as required by site practice.
• Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification - Basic Life Support (BCLS) level.

Skills And Abilities

• Demonstrated knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging practitioners established by the CAMRT and/or other relevant national professional associations.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the organization policies, procedures and standards of care including practice of safe work procedures with applicable modality equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to perform radioisotope examinations in compliance with departmental standards.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission Regulations.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Nuclear Medicine, Positron Emission Tomography and Computed Tomography theory and practices within a patient/family centred model of care.
• Demonstrated computer skills with current computer applications
• Demonstrated knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with Nuclear Medicine, PET and Computed Tomography equipment and related computer applications.
• Demonstrated knowledge of research process and methodology.
• Demonstrated ability to develop procedure protocols and manuals.
• Demonstrated knowledge of PACS/Radiology Information Systems, i.e., digital imaging, image archiving and retrieval.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate (orally and in writing) and deal effectively with patients and their families, coworkers, physicians, other health care staff and external staff.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
• Demonstrated ability to plan and establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
• Demonstrated skill in CT, PET and Nuclear Medicine techniques and the use of applicable equipment and supplies.

Your Day to Day

• Performs a full range of PET/CT and Nuclear Medicine diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including patient preparation, positioning, image acquisition, reconstruction and processing, and ensures images meet established quality standards.
• Provides safe, patient-centred care throughout examinations, including obtaining clinical histories, establishing IV access, monitoring vital signs and patient condition, administering contrast and radiopharmaceuticals, and responding to adverse reactions or emergencies.
• Prepares, dispenses and administers radiopharmaceuticals, therapeutic agents and other medications in accordance with established procedures, including performing required quality control and maintaining accurate documentation.
• Operates, monitors and performs routine quality control and troubleshooting on PET/CT, Nuclear Medicine and related imaging equipment, consulting with physicians, Lead Technologists and other team members when technical or clinical concerns arise.
• Maintains a safe imaging and radiation environment by receiving, handling, storing and disposing of radioactive materials, monitoring radiation levels, applying ALARA principles, and following radiation safety, infection control and occupational health and safety requirements.
• Contributes to departmental operations, education and continuous improvement through patient documentation and records management, supply monitoring, staff and learner orientation, research and special projects, quality improvement initiatives, and the development of practices, procedures and standards.
