Job summary

The BC Public Service seeks a Natural Resource Officer for the North Area to join the Natural Resource Officer Service. You will help protect land, water, wildlife, and forests while upholding the public interest across British Columbia.

As part of the BC Compliance and Enforcement Agency, the role involves inspections, investigations, evidence gathering for court proceedings, and occasional education and outreach. This is a full-time, on-site position with competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• Education and experience requirements listed: degree/diploma options.
• Or a university degree/technical diploma in natural resource management.
• Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
• Must hold a valid BC Class 5 driver's licence or be eligible.
• Must be willing to be designated as a Special Provincial Constable.
• Willing to travel frequently and work weekends/odd shifts.
• Able to work outdoors in all weather and terrain.
• First Aid certificate or willingness to obtain upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections, compliance testing, and investigations.
• Identify non-compliance and recommend sanctions.
• Gather evidence for quasi-judicial or court proceedings.
• Educate the public and engage in enforcement actions.
