Job summary

Main Street Project is seeking a Van Outreach Support Worker for 0.4 FTE (term until March 31, 2027) based at 71 Martha Street in Winnipeg. This role operates MSP’s outreach vans, travels throughout Winnipeg, and provides harm-reduction focused support to individuals experiencing homelessness, including emergency transport and wellness checks.

Night shifts from 23:30 to 08:00, with a schedule that includes Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Qualifications

• Experience working in human services with adults experiencing homelessness, mental health and substance use issues.
• Experience in outreach is an asset.
• Ability to work with a client-centred care philosophy.
• Knowledge of Indigenous culture.
• Lived experience relevant to the role.

Responsibilities

• Ensure immediate needs are met with food, shelter, clothing, harm reduction, and hygiene supplies.
• Assist participants in planning and problem solving.
• Drive and operate MSP’s Outreach Vans.
• Provide transport to community members as required.
• Respond to emergencies and document critical incidents.
• Maintain safety and facilitate medical attention or transportation as needed.
• Monitor and support access to services and resources.
• Keep accurate and confidential records.
