Job summary

Main Street Project operates a 24/7 van outreach program in Winnipeg, traveling to community members at risk during extreme weather and offering transportation to MSP’s emergency shelter, harm reduction supplies, and wellness checks. The Van Outreach Support Worker maintains MSP values of harm reduction, equity, and diversity, encouraging client capacity building and independence.

Qualifications

• Relevant education and experience in human services, preferably with adults experiencing homelessness, mental health and substance use issues.
• Ability to work with a client-centred care philosophy.
• Knowledge of Harm Reduction and Housing First philosophies.

Responsibilities

• Ensure participants' immediate needs are met (food, shelter, clothing, harm reduction, hygiene supplies).
• Drive and operate MSP’s Outreach Vans and provide transport to community members as required.
• Respond to emergencies, document critical incidents, and ensure medical attention when needed.
• Maintain accurate confidential electronic and physical records and submit required statistics on time.
