Job summary

Life’s Journey Inc. in Brandon, Manitoba, is hiring an Overnight Drop-In Support Mentor to provide direct support to participants at the warming shelter. You will build supportive relationships, respond to crises, and maintain safety and documentation during night shifts.

The role requires a valid Class 5F driver's license, First Aid/CPR, criminal and abuse registry checks, reliable transportation, and the ability to work regularly on a rotating schedule in a harm-reduction framework.

Qualifications

• Requires a satisfactory Child and Adult Abuse Registry check.
• Requires a satisfactory Criminal Record Check (vulnerable sector search).
• Requires a satisfactory Driver’s abstract (if required).
• Class 5F Driver’s Licence.
• First Aid Level 1 – Emergency & CPR.
• Demonstrated language, writing, and comprehension skills.
• Ability to attend work regularly as scheduled.
• Knowledge of harm reduction practices and ability to work within a harm reduction framework.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to participants accessing the warming shelter.
• Build a friendly, supportive relationship with participants.
• Assist participants during crisis and respond to emergencies.
• Ensure adequate direct supervision in identified risk areas per support plans.
• Follow policies regarding on-duty cellular phone and panic button.
• Complete housekeeping duties and maintain cleanliness of the shelter.
• Attend employee meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
• Communicate with Shelter Care Team on developments or incidents.
• Provide timely verbal and/or written reports of unusual occurrences.
