Job summary

The University of Manitoba is seeking a Caretaking professional for night shifts Sunday to Thursday, 10:00 pm to 6:15 am, on the Winnipeg campus. The role covers cleaning, maintenance of floors, and coordination of caretaking tasks in classrooms and facilities.

Applicants should have a High School Diploma and at least one year of related experience, with strong English communication, safety training (WHMIS), and willingness to work outdoors in all seasons.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Minimum one year related experience.
• Good knowledge of cleaning procedures and equipment operation.
• Ability to communicate in English and follow instructions.
• Willingness to work outdoors year-round.
• Able to pass safety training (WHMIS).

Responsibilities

• Caretaker coverage on a three shift basis; maintain cleanliness in student areas, washrooms, classrooms, labs, offices and entrances.
• Maintain floors and floor coverings using specialized equipment and techniques.
• Vacuum and shampoo carpets, drapes and furniture.
• Empty waste containers and transport waste to pickup points.
• Clean and disinfect washrooms, sinks, toilets and urinals daily.
• Maintain supplies of paper towels, toilet tissue and soap in dispensers.
• Dust window sills, desks, shelving and fixtures.
• Clean glass doors and windows as required.
• Lights: replace bulbs and report malfunctions to supervisor.
• Ensure safety by reporting hazards and maintaining grounds around buildings.
