Job summary

Immigrant Services Calgary seeks a Newcomer Language Specialist in Medicine Hat, Alberta to support language assessment and referral services, ensuring compliance with operating standards and protocols while delivering high-quality language support to newcomers.

You will administer CLB/NCLC assessments, provide needs assessments, refer clients to programs, maintain accurate data, and collaborate with community partners.

Qualifications

• Must have undergraduate degree in Education, Language, Linguistics or English.
• TESL training program with minimum 100 hours practicum.
• External training from CCLB and/or Achev is an asset.
• CLB/CLBPT/CLB-LPT/ELPTA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer CLB/NCLC language assessments per standards and maintain testing security.
• Conduct assessments in person at main office or satellite locations, online, proctored or unproctored.
• Provide needs assessments and identify language training options for clients.
• Refer clients to language programs through established protocols.
• Record test scores, client profiles and referrals in centralized databases and ensure funder data accuracy.
