Job summary

North Bay Regional Health Centre is seeking a registered nurse for the Complex Continuing Care & Seniors Mental Health department. The role includes clinical nursing, patient assessment, and coordination within a geriatric and mental health focused team.

The candidate must hold Ontario RN registration, current BLS, Capillary Blood Glucose, Medication Administration, GPA and PIECES certificates. Bilingual English/French is required, with a French test if needed.

Qualifications

• Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers must be current (within 12 months).
• Capillary Blood Glucose Certification is required.
• Medical clinical experience is required.
• Experience in Dementia Care is required.
• Certification in Medication Administration is required with recent related experience.
• Experience with catheterization is preferred.
• GPA and PIECES certificates are required.
• Knowledge of PHIPA, Mental Health Act, etc., is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to medical patients in a complex care setting.
• Collaborate with the health care team to plan and implement patient care.
• Deliver health teaching to patients and families.
• Document care and maintain accurate records.
• Ensure safety of patients, staff, and visitors; participate in safety programs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Certification/Experience/Knowledge

• Current Certificate of Registration ~ College of Nurses of Ontario required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (HCP) Certificate required (recent within the last twelve months)
• Capillary Blood Glucose Certification required
• Medical clinical experience required
• Experience in Dementia Care required
• Certified in Medication Administration required with recent related experience required
• Experience with catheterization
• Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) Certificate and PIECES certificate required
• IV maintenance an asset
• Wound management knowledge and experience an asset
• Knowledge of Recovery Oriented Practice supporting patient choice is an asset
• Knowledge of applicable legislation (I.e. Mental Health Act, Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA), etc.) is required
• Knowledge of Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) an asset
