Job summary

North Bay Regional Health Centre is seeking a registered nurse for the Birthing Unit in North Bay. The role provides care across antenatal, labour, birth, postpartum and newborns, in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

The successful candidate will hold an Ontario nursing license, be BLS certified, and demonstrate commitment to family-centered maternity care, ongoing education, and quality improvement in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Current Certificate of Registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• BLS for Health Care Providers within the last 12 months.
• 2–3 years experience caring for antenatal, labour, birth, postpartum and newborn patients.
• NRP certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide maternity care across antenatal, labour, birth, postpartum and newborn periods.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to support family-centered maternity care.
• Deliver health teaching to individuals and groups.
• Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
• Maintain high standards of safety and patient care in a fast-paced unit.

QUALIFICATIONS

Certification/Experience/Knowledge

• Current Certificate of Registration ~ College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (HCP) certificate required (within the last twelve months)
• Minimum (2-3 years) experience caring for antenatal, labour, birth, postpartum and newborn patients (within the last 1-2 years) required
• Certified in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required
• Current certifications required:
  • IVTherapy
  • Fetal Health Surveillance
  • Cervical Examinations
  • Epidural Care
  • Breastfeeding Education (WHO Level I course)
  • Peri-Operative Role for Caesarean Section (scrub and circulating)
• Commitment to family centered maternity care required

Skills/Abilities

• Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required.
