Job summary

The North Bay Regional Health Centre is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to dispense and compound medications under the supervision of a Pharmacist, while contributing to the distribution of Pharmacy Services in a hospital setting.

Applicants should have a Pharmacy Technician credential, 3+ years IV rotation experience, and familiarity with Meditech or hospital automation. Bilingual English/French proficiency is required. CUPE 139 terms apply.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a Pharmacy Technician course or equivalent.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (Ontario College of Pharmacists).
• Minimum 3 years IV rotation experience in a hospital setting.
• Experience in a hospital pharmacy and hospital pharmacy automated technologies are assets.
• Knowledge and experience with Meditech an asset.

Responsibilities

• Dispense and compound drugs as delegated by a Pharmacist.
• Oversee the distribution component of Pharmacy Services.

Job description

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for dispensing and compounding of drugs, as delegated by a Pharmacist, and the distribution component of Pharmacy Services, in keeping with the standards of Hospital Pharmacy practice.

PROGRAM INCENTIVE

North Bay Regional Health Centre is offering $5000 in exchange for a two-year commitment to the Health Centre as a Regulated Pharmacy Technician. Funds are received in increments throughout the two-year commitment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Certification/Experience/Knowledge

• Graduate from a Pharmacy Technician course or equivalent required
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (Ontario College of Pharmacists)
• Minimum 3 years IV rotation experience in a hospital setting required
• Experience in a hospital pharmacy and hospital pharmacy automated technologies are assets
• Knowledge and experience with Meditech an asset

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• Computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Word) required
• Demonstrated excellent judgment and proven analytical skills required
• Good attendance and work record required
• Must demonstrate commitment to ensure the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors
• Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organization
• Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required.
