Job summary

Cenovus Energy in Calgary is launching a New Grad Program for engineers and software-related grads. The role is a three-year, three-rotation program designed to develop a broad understanding of Cenovus’s business through challenging projects, mentorship and networking, with potential relocation and permanent placement after rotations.

You will apply engineering and data analytics skills to upstream oil and gas operations, building practical solutions using large data platforms and automation

Qualifications

• Legally authorized to work in Canada.
• Available to begin work June 2027.
• Undergraduate Engineering, Computer Science or Software Development degree by May 31, 2027.
• Completed within the last 2 years (2025–2027).
• Has less than two years of professional experience related to this discipline.
• Analytical, problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills.
• Exposure to programming or scripting, preferably Python.
• Familiarity with SQL, databases, Git, cloud computing, APIs, web development, data visualization or industrial data historians is asset.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering, operations and IT/OT teams to understand production processes and data requirements.
• Analyze production and process data to identify trends, anomalies, inefficiencies and opportunities.
• Develop and maintain scripts, data models and integrations using PI System, SQL, Python and cloud platforms.
• Support design, testing and deployment of tools, dashboards, APIs and web-based applications.
• Investigate data quality and system integration issues; document solutions for stakeholders.
• Other duties will vary depending on business needs.
