Job summary

North Bay Regional Health Centre is seeking an Environmental Services worker in the Environmental Services Department to maintain the cleanliness of patient areas, corridors and common spaces. You will respond to codes and operate housekeeping equipment, with a focus on safety and reliability.

The role requires Grade 12 or equivalent and the ability to work with minimal supervision, including lifting up to 18 kg and moving carts. Bilingual English/French is an asset; CUPE 139 terms apply.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 graduation or equivalent required.
• Ability to respond to codes (Red, White, etc).
• Completion of the Ontario Health Care Housekeepers Association Environmental Services Course for Front Line Staff an asset.
• Willing to operate housekeeping equipment including floor scrubber, vacuum and steam cleaner.
• Must perform the physical demands of the role with lifting up to 18 kg and frequent walking/bending.
• Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must be available for scheduled shifts and call-ins.
• Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is an asset.

Certification/Experience/Knowledge

• Grade 12 Graduate or equivalent required
• Must demonstrate ability to respond to all Codes (Red, White, etc)
• Completion of the Ontario Health Care Housekeepers Association Environmental Services Course for Front Line Staff an asset

Skills/Abilities

• Ability to clean the physical environment
• Ability to push/pull carts (1.5 kg to 10 kg force) and lift 18kg
• Be willing and prepared to operate all housekeeping related equipment including automatic floor scrubber, vacuum and steam cleaner.
• Ability to perform the physical demands of the position including continuous/frequent: walking, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting (up to 18 kg), twisting and the ability to climb ladders as needed
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision
• Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills required
• Must be available for scheduled shifts and call-ins
• Good attendance and work record required
• Must demonstrate commitment to ensure your safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients volunteers and visitors
• Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organization
• Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is an asset
