Job summary

North Bay Regional Health Centre is seeking an experienced Emergency Department nurse leader. The role requires BScN, MSN/MScN, Ontario registration and ongoing ACLS/BLS credentials. A minimum of 5 years in Emergency and 2–3 years in medical/surgical settings is expected.

Strong teaching, leadership, and curriculum development skills are essential. Fluency in English is required; French bilingualism is an asset.

Qualifications

• Current Certificate of Registration with College of Nurses of Ontario
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) from a recognized program
• Master's in Nursing required (MSN or MScN)
• Current BLS for Health Care Providers within 12 months
• Current ACLS for Health Care Providers within 12 months
• Coronary Care/Lead II Interpretation Knowledge
• Willingness to obtain ACLS/BCLS instructor status
• CNO Standards of Nursing Practice knowledge
• 2-3 years Medical/Surgical experience
• 5 years recent Emergency Department experience
• Ability to educate patients and staff
• Policy and curriculum development experience
• Fluency in English; bilingual English/French an asset

Department: Emergency

The Emergency Department is open 24 hours/day 7 days per week. It is staffed by a multi-disciplinary team of registered nurses, registered respiratory therapists, social services, pastoral care, crisis intervention, orthopedic technicians and other members of our health care team

QUALIFICATIONS

Certification/Experience/Knowledge:

• Current Certificate of Registration ~ College of Nurses of Ontario required
• Graduate of a recognized BScN Program required
• Masters of Nursing or Masters of Science in Nursing required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (HCP) Certificate required (within the last twelve months)
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) for Health Care Providers (HCP) Certificate required (within the last twelve months)
• Coronary Care Course and/or Lead II Interpretation Course, 12 Lead Interpretation required
• Willingness to obtain ACLS and BCLS instructor’s status
• Canadian Triage Acuity Scale Certification required
• 2-3 years’ experience on a Medical/Surgical unit required
• Minimum of 5 years recent (within last 2-3 years) Emergency Department experience required
• Excellent demonstrated physical and psychosocial assessment and intervention skills required
• Knowledge of adult teaching and learning principles combined with recent teaching experience (patient and staff education) required
• Knowledge / experience in education curriculum development, implementation and evaluation required
• Proven working knowledge of the College of Nurses of Ontario Standards of Nursing Practice required

• Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required.
