Job summary

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) invites applications for a Registered Nurse in the Neuroscience team at Lions Gate Hospital, North Vancouver, BC. The RN provides comprehensive nursing care, assesses and plans care, and collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to support patient outcomes and discharge planning.

Aligned with client- and family-centred care, the role adheres to BCCNM standards and VCH policies.

Qualifications

• Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Demonstrated ability in nursing practice related to designated client group.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement care plans.
• Demonstrated ability to adjust to unexpected events, problem-solve, set priorities and deal with conflict.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing).
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
• Demonstrated ability to counsel and teach clients and their families.
• Demonstrated leadership through initiative and independence.
• Demonstrated skill in CPR techniques.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to assigned patients/clients and participate in discharge planning.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate client care; act as client advocate.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams and document care in EMR.
• Maintain and advance clinical competence; participate in committees and research projects as assigned.
