Description

Our team and what we’ll accomplish together

The Voice and Collaboration team is responsible for the reliable and quality performance of our wireline and wireless voice networks so that our customers can enjoy a superior experience with TELUS services. We provide Tier 3 technical and design support for the TELUS Voice Core network, including managing and supervising service development, upgrades, proactive monitoring, vendor management, network build, and consolidation activities.

What You’ll Do

  • Respond to inquiries from staff, administrators, service providers, site personnel, outside vendors, etc., to provide technical assistance and support
  • Maintain network operations and software applications, operating systems, and regular maintenance
  • Manage assigned projects and program components to deliver services according to objectives
  • Monitor and patch systems and servers related to the voice network to ensure service availability
  • Manage hardware and software upgrades with lab testing and implementation to avoid customer impact
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions of voice network hardware, software, and security systems to resolve issues and restore services
  • Be on 24x7 on-call support for tier 3 network implementation and support
  • Manage network inventory (hardware, software, circuits)
  • Take ownership of network issues and collaborate with third parties, technicians, and managers for resolution strategies
  • Act as a project manager for network-related projects
  • Provide architecture recommendations based on project and business analysis
  • Develop test plans and methods of procedure (MOPs) for network installations

Qualifications

What you bring

  • Expertise in voice switching technologies such as Genband / Ribbon C20, A2, G9, G6, SBCs
  • Advanced knowledge of call tracing tools and interpretation across multi-vendor VOIP networks
  • Sufficient experience in Voice switching, TDM, SIP, H248, SIP Trunking, Hosted PBX, SIGTRAN, SS7, IP, MPLS, Segment Routing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Visio and Office suite
  • Experience with complex network infrastructure using technologies like Ribbon / Genband, SIP / H.248 gateways, Cisco Broadworks
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis of outages and incidents
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret technical info and define issues
  • Ability to manage technical bridges and restore services during outages
  • Knowledge of network architecture design such as Class 5 / 4 switches, STPs, media gateways
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with technical and non-technical audiences
  • 7-10 years experience in Telecom industry, with 5+ years in TDM / IP voice switching operations
  • Degree or diploma in Engineering, Telecommunications, IT, or equivalent experience

Great-to-haves

  • Knowledge of NFV and cloud services for voice applications
