Job Title: Modern Networking Consultant

Job Location: Remote: Work from home in Alberta or British Columbia

Compensation: The Network Consultant position is a full-time, salaried role with compensation ranging from $95,000 to $115,000, commensurate with skills, experience, and abilities.

Position Summary: This role is for a dynamic individual excited about using technology to drive customer success and build a successful business within a collaborative, customer-centric culture. The Network Consultant will deliver IT consultancy services across a broad client base, working collaboratively to design and implement managed services and IT projects, including presales activities. The role requires translating business needs into technical solutions and effectively communicating project progress and constraints.

The position reports to the Manager, Service Delivery. It involves 40 hours per week during business hours (8:00 am to 5:00 pm PST/MST, Monday to Friday), with potential after-hours work and travel based on project demands.

What You’ll Do Here:

  1. Collaborate with network support teams to provide technical solutions to clients.
  2. Offer networking expertise to technical teams.
  3. Participate in technical escalations.
  4. Plan and execute network security projects.
  5. Conduct network assessments.
  6. Lead or contribute to projects from assessment to implementation and handover.
  7. Guide clients on new technologies, including training and knowledge transfer.
  8. Develop technical documentation.
  9. Update or establish best practices as needed.
  10. Perform scheduled health checks and firmware updates in client environments.

Qualifications/Expertise:

  1. 7+ years of relevant experience in complex network environments.
  2. Proven wired and wireless network design and implementation skills.
  3. Expertise in enterprise firewall management and configuration.
  4. Deep knowledge of Azure IAAS cloud networking and firewalling.
  5. Strong understanding of datacenter networking.
  6. Experience with Security Services Edge platform design and implementation.
  7. Hands-on experience with technologies like Aruba, Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Zscaler, and Cloudflare.

Certifications (or equivalent experience):

  1. HPE Aruba Networking Certifications.
  2. Cisco CCNA or higher.
  3. Fortinet Certified Associate or higher.
  4. Palo Alto PCNSE.
  5. Zscaler EDU-200, EDU-202 or equivalent.
