Job summary

WBM is seeking a Network & Security Solutions Specialist to deliver technology projects for clients across Western Canada. You will design, implement, and optimize network, server, and cloud solutions while ensuring security and compliance standards.

You will work with vendors and client staff to ensure successful onboarding and ongoing support, with opportunities to travel within Canada and contribute to customer success in a dynamic MSP environment.

Qualifications

Job description

Network & Security Solutions Specialist

We are looking for a Solutions Specialist to join our team. As a Solutions Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering technology projects for our clients, ranging from small businesses to large enterprises. You will work closely with other team members and our clients to ensure that the solutions meet their requirements and expectations and align with industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Implementation: Design, install, configure, and troubleshoot network infrastructure, server infrastructure, and cloud services and solutions. You will have the opportunity to work on various technologies and vendors, such as Microsoft 365, Azure, Aruba, and more.
  • Client Onboarding: Collaborate with external vendors and new client staff to ensure the smooth transition of IT services. Identify gaps in the existing environment where additional project work is required to meet support and compliance standards.
  • Security and Compliance: Implement robust security measures and adhere to compliance requirements for network environments. Design and configure network security and monitoring solutions to protect sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access.
General Qualifications & Skills:
  • Experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role, with a provable history of successful project implementation.
  • Experience with networking concepts and protocols.
  • Dedication to customer service and experience
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms, such as Microsoft 365, Azure, and more.
  • Proficiency in security and compliance features and tools.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to stand up scalable and secure network solutions.
  • Excited about opportunities to travel within Canada
  • Valid Class 5 license and vehicle
Specific Qualification & Skills:
  • 3+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator, Network Administrator, Network Engineer, Security Administrator, or similar technical role, with a proven history of successful project implementation.
  • Network and security certifications such as ACNA, ACNP, CCNA, CCNP, or Sophos Certified Architect - Firewall.
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and supporting network infrastructure, including:
    • Routing and switching
    • Wireless networking
    • WAN and SD-WAN technologies
    • VPN solutions
    • Network segmentation and high-availability architectures
  • Working knowledge of enterprise networking vendors and platforms such as Aruba, Cisco, Fortinet, Sophos, Palo Alto, Ubiquiti, or equivalent technologies.

Experience administering cloud platforms and services, including Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure, Entra ID (Azure AD), Intune, Hybrid cloud environments

  • Experience administering cloud platforms and services, including Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure, Entra ID (Azure AD), Intune and Hybrid cloud environments
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, including:
    • Identity and Access Management (IAM)
    • Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
    • Zero Trust Architecture
    • Network Access Control (NAC)
    • Security Monitoring and Logging
    • Vulnerability Management
    • Incident Response
  • Experience implementing and maintaining network security technologies, including:
    • Firewalls
    • Secure Remote Access Solutions
    • Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS)
    • Secure Web and Email Gateways
    • Endpoint Protection Solutions
  • Experience conducting technical assessments, identifying risks, and recommending remediation plans and security improvements.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, with the capability to diagnose complex networking and security issues across multi-vendor environments.
  • Ability to create and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including:
    • Network diagrams
    • Solution designs
    • Standard operating procedures
    • Knowledge transfer documentation
  • Experience collaborating with project managers, architects, vendors, and customer stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within scope.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple client projects simultaneously.
“Nice to have” Qualifications:
  • Experience within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment.
  • Experience with network monitoring and management platforms such as Auvik, PRTG, SolarWinds, or LogicMonitor.
  • Experience with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platforms.
  • Understanding of automation and scripting using PowerShell, Python, or similar tools.
