LeverageTek Staffing Solutions in Ottawa is seeking a Check Point Firewall Specialist for a permanent full-time role. You will administer and troubleshoot an enterprise Check Point firewall environment (40-50 firewalls) and manage policies using SmartConsole.

The ideal candidate has 2–5 years of hands-on firewall experience, CCSE preferred, strong networking fundamentals, and the ability to coordinate with MSPs and internal teams. This on-site role offers a competitive salary and benefits.

Job description

LeverageTek is actively seeking a Check Point Firewall Specialist for a permanent, full-time position with its Ottawa-based customer.

Work Location

The successful candidate will be required to work 4 days per week on-site at the customer headquarters in Ottawa, ON.

Key Tasks

• Administer, maintain and troubleshoot an enterprise Check Point firewall environment of approximately 40-50 firewalls
• Manage firewall policies, security rules, gateways, objects and configurations using Check Point SmartConsole
• Support Threat Prevention, security monitoring, logging and firewall performance activities
• Investigate and resolve firewall-related incidents, connectivity issues and security configuration challenges
• Support firewall upgrades, patching, configuration reviews, backups and lifecycle activities
• Act as the primary internal Check Point subject-matter expert and provide technical direction to managed service providers
• Review escalations, investigate complex technical issues and determine appropriate resolution approaches
• Collaborate with infrastructure and cybersecurity teams on firewall changes, traffic restrictions, security investigations and remediation
• Assess proposed firewall changes and their potential impact on connected systems, applications and network services
• Support incident investigation, troubleshooting and root-cause analysis
• Help prioritize firewall requests and coordinate changes across internal teams and external service providers
• Identify opportunities to improve firewall administration, security controls and operational processes
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, firewall configurations and operational procedures
• Contribute to longer-term firewall planning, lifecycle management and infrastructure improvements

Key Qualifications

• At least 2 years of practical, hands-on experience administering Check Point firewalls in an enterprise environment
• Strong working knowledge of Check Point SmartConsole, firewall policies, gateways, security configurations and Threat Prevention
• Check Point CCSE certification (strongly preferred)

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of relevant experience in network security, firewall administration or IT infrastructure, with flexibility for candidates bringing additional experience
• CCSM or other advanced Check Point certifications are an asset
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, routing, VPNs, NAT, DNS and network connectivity
• Experience troubleshooting firewall and network security issues in a production environment
• Exposure to managed service providers, vendor coordination or outsourced infrastructure support is an asset
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the confidence to investigate issues and work independently
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical teams and business stakeholders
• A proactive mindset, strong sense of ownership and genuine interest in developing deeper technical expertise

Compensation

• $85,000-$90,000 base salary, with flexibility for the right candidate. Eligible for an annual performance bonus of up to 15%. Comprehensive benefits package and pension plan. This is an existing position vacancy.
