Job summary

Amazon AWS Infrastructure Services seeks a Network Deployment Technician to help build and maintain a Cloud Computing Infrastructure across data center and colocation sites in the Americas. The role involves independent work periods and driving change while keeping strong communication with teams.

Responsibilities include installing routers/switches/DWDMs, troubleshooting cabling, coordinating remote hands for capacity, and leading network deployment projects.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of computer networking experience.
  • 2+ years of Linux operating systems experience.
  • Experience in computer networking.
  • Experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and repair.

  • Troubleshoot fiber optic and copper cabling, network installations and configuration.
  • Coordinating colocation remote hands for new capacity installations.
  • Work cross functionally with internal partners to deliver network capacity projects.
  • Resolving data center and facility issues.
  • Identify, coordinate, and remediate outside plant (OSP) connectivity issues.
  • Lead small to mid-size network deployment projects.
  • Building relationships with remote teams to ensure swift response times to events.
  • Performing site audits to ensure safety and quality meets AWS standards.
  • Improving all operational processes within each site and/or cage.
  • Providing status updates to stakeholders via internal tools.
  • Decommissioning of cable and network hardware in collaboration with partner teams as needed.

Job description

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. As a Network Deployment Technician at AWS, you will help build and maintain a Cloud Computing Infrastructure across a number of data center and colocation sites in the Americas.

The role involves some periods working independently of your team and requires the ability to drive change while maintaining excellent communication.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installation and configuration of routers, switches and DWDM hardware
  • Troubleshoot fiber optic and copper cabling, network installations and configuration
  • Coordinating colocation remote hands for new capacity installations
  • Work cross functionally with internal partners to deliver network capacity projects
  • Resolving data center and facility issues
  • Identify, coordinate, and remediate outside plant (OSP) connectivity issues
  • Lead small to mid-size network deployment projects
  • Building relationships with remote teams to ensure swift response times to events
  • Performing site audits to ensure safety and quality meets AWS standards
  • Improving all operational processes within each site and/or cage

  • Physical Requirements: ability to lift and rack equipment up to 40 lbs; may require working in cramped spaces or elevated locations while adhering to health and safety guidelines
  • This role may involve up to 50% travel; the vast majority is local but may include domestic and international travel
Basic Qualifications
  • 2+ years of computer networking experience
  • 2+ years of Linux operating systems experience
  • Experience in computer networking
  • Can lift and rack equipment up to 40 pounds
  • Experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and repair
Preferred Qualifications
  • Can work in cramped spaces or in elevated locations while adhering to health and safety guidelines
  • Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure
  • Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system
  • Experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies
  • Experience working in a data center environment (racking and stacking gear, cable management, hot/cold aisle containment)
  • 3+ years of computer networking and Linux operating system experience
Compensation and Benefits

Hourly rate: $36.05 – $46.53 CAD. Amazon offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, basic life and AD&D insurance), RRSP, DPSP, paid time off, and other wellness resources. Total compensation may also include sign-on payments and RSUs.
