Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact

  • Perform all duties in a safe manner in compliance with Kinectrics policies and procedures.
  • Operate and participate in the implementation of cyber security solutions and systems. Analyze information security risks, identify security flaws, and evaluate industry trends to determine their potential impact on the infrastructure.
  • Using SIEM and other tools, provide timely detection, identification, and alerts of possible attacks/intrusions, anomalous activities. Analyze network traffic to identify anomalous activity and potential threats to corporate resources. Investigate/Escalate security incidents that may cause ongoing or immediate impact to the environment.
  • Perform day to day administrative tasks on firewalls and layer 1/2/3 network infrastructure.
  • Working with the Networking and Security Team, create and maintain design and process documentation for solutions in use by Kinectrics.
  • Participate in projects and infrastructure efforts to improve cyber security and security compliance efforts; provide expertise and consulting to all IT projects about security solutions and technologies.
  • Research best practices and stay up to date on the latest security intelligence, new technologies, trends, and strategies in order to effectively protect the network and prevent data loss and service interruption.
  • Work with third party security vendors to assess weaknesses, identify solutions, perform product evaluations, and provide recommendations to improve and maintain a strong cyber security posture.
  • Work closely with other teams, departments, and management, to provide technical guidance and support on security requirements and best practices on security principles and strategies, protocols, controls, and/or tools for risk mitigation and security countermeasures.
  • Perform regular and scheduled vulnerability assessments to identify vulnerabilities applicable to Kinectrics infrastructure, security, and privacy; report the results and provide guidance on remediation.
  • Development and delivery of corporate training on cyber security threats, new security policies, procedures and awareness campaigns.
  • Recommend and implement security improvements and upgrades to ensure policy compliance and risk minimization.
  • Contribute to the development of Information Security policies and procedures consistent with corporate security objectives and industry practices and standards.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of and provide technical and operational support for all regulatory requirements, including ISO 27001:2013, CSA290.7-14 and other controls and regulations applicable to Kinectrics.
  • Assist Systems and Network Administrators with management of Microsoft Active Directory Services, Group Policies, Windows Servers, Microsoft 365, Azure services, as well as with design, implementation, and support of company’s network infrastructure and services.
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd level technical support to IT helpdesk team for network and security related issues.
  • Perform other duties/tasks/projects as required.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Post-secondary education in Information Technology or a suitable combination of education and experience.
  • Networking or Security certifications are an asset.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in IT infrastructure administration with proven experience in the network administration.
  • Working experience of a variety of security technologies in areas of: End Point Protection, IPS/IDS, Malware Protection, SIEM, firewalls, Digital Certificates & Cryptography, Patch Management, URL filtering, Identity and Access management (IAM), etc.
  • Knowledge and understanding of security architecture concepts and principles, threat, and risk assessment methodologies, practices, procedures, and applications.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, IPSec, SSL/TLS and other network and encryption protocols.
  • Experience in PowerShell Scripting, Active Directory administration, Windows Server, Microsoft 365, and Azure.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret analysis data and security alerts, identify root problems and potential risks.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and judgement in resolving problems.
  • Good communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Some travel may be required to other corporate offices.
