Job summary

City of Owen Sound is seeking a skilled Network Administrator to join the IT team. You will implement, maintain, support and secure the City's voice and data networks, servers, and infrastructure to ensure reliability and performance for municipal services.

The role involves cybersecurity, disaster recovery planning, Microsoft 365 administration, and infrastructure projects, with after-hours on-call as required. This is a 12-month contract posted for a leave replacement.

Qualifications

• Two-year college diploma in IT/Networking or related field required.
• Industry certifications such as MCSE, CCNA, VCP, A+, Network+, Security+ or equivalent.
• Minimum three years of experience in a network administration or related role.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and support the City’s network infrastructure including switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, wireless networks, and VoIP systems.
• Support Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Azure AD, DNS, DHCP, and related technologies.
• Administer and support Microsoft 365 and associated applications.
• Monitor network performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency.

Network&InfrastructureAdministration

• MaintainandsupporttheCity'snetworkinfrastructure,includingswitches,routers,firewalls,VPNs,wirelessnetworks,andVoIPsystems.

Cybersecurity&DisasterRecovery

• Implementandmaintainsecurityconfigurations,policies,andcontrolstoprotectCityinformationsystems.
• Assistinthedevelopment,maintenance,andimplementationoftheCity'sCyberIncidentResponsePlananddisasterrecoverystrategies.
• Performsystembackupsanddisasterrecoverytestingtoensurebusinesscontinuity.
• Identifypotentialvulnerabilitiesandrecommendsolutionstostrengthensecurity.

TechnicalSupport&ServiceDelivery

• Providesecond-leveltechnicalsupportforhardware,software,infrastructure,andnetwork-relatedissues.
• Supportinstallations,upgrades,troubleshooting,andmaintenanceofnetworkequipment,servers,workstations,andapplications.
• Provideguidance,training,andtechnicalsupporttoCitystaff,Council,andotherstakeholders.
• Promotetheeffectiveandappropriateuseoftechnologythroughouttheorganization.

Project&TechnologyPlanning

• Participateintechnologyplanningthroughongoingresearchandevaluationofemergingtechnologies.
• Manageassignedtechnologyprojectsandinitiativesinaccordancewithprojectmanagementprinciplesandestablishedtimelines.
• Research,recommend,andimplementinnovativesolutionstosupportoperationalrequirementsandserviceimprovements.
• Contributetoannualbudgetplanningrelatedtoinformationtechnologyinfrastructure.

Documentation&ContinuousImprovement

Education&Experience
