Job description

Overview
Position Overview

Location: Vancouver, British Columbia. This role is based in Vancouver and supports the field program nationally, with regular travel across Canadian markets.

Reports to: Senior Director, Retail, Influence Marketing Services, in partnership with the U.S. National Training Manager.

Employment type: Full-time.

The National Tech Trainer leads the design, delivery and continuous improvement of training for Sales Specialists across Canada. The role balances global training content with the realities of Canadian retail — regionalizing programming, spending meaningful time in-store coaching to performance, and keeping training aligned to retailer sales goals.

Training Delivery & Development
  • Design and deliver engaging training programs on client technology (product knowledge, features, benefits, sales techniques, and customer engagement).
  • Conducted in-person and virtual training sessions for part-time brand ambassadors at Retail locations within the assigned region.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive, up-to-date training materials (presentations, handouts, online resources) that align with the brand's messaging.
  • Adapt training delivery methods to cater to diverse learning styles and ensure effective knowledge transfer.
Coaching & Performance Support
  • Provide ongoing coaching and mentorship to part-time Sales Specialists to enhance their product knowledge, sales skills, and customer service abilities.
  • Observe and evaluate Sales Specialists' performance in-store, providing constructive feedback and guidance for improvement.
  • Identify knowledge gaps and address performance challenges through targeted training interventions.
  • Foster positive partner Field and Store relationships by adapting to local retail store environments, respecting established hierarchies, and adhering to all operational policies while representing Influence Marketing Services.
Program Evaluation & Improvement
  • Assess the effectiveness of training programs through data analysis, feedback surveys, and performance metrics.
  • Monitor sales data and customer feedback to identify areas where training can be optimized to drive sales and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with the National Training Manager to align training initiatives with retailers' sales goals and program objectives.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and competitor activities to ensure training content remains relevant and impactful.
Canadian Market Requirements
  • Based in Vancouver, BC, with the ability and willingness to travel across Canadian regional retail markets, including overnight stays, as program needs require.
  • Dedicated in-store time each month to coach Sales Specialists in the selling environment and drive measurable performance improvement.
  • Regionalize the training approach — adapt global content to Canadian retail environments, retailer expectations and regional market differences.
  • Support bilingual (English/French) program needs in partnership with Quebec-based field leadership.
Performance Measures
  • Training content and materials built on adult-learning principles — clear objectives, effective teaching strategies, evaluation methods and structured plans.
  • Accurate and complete training and onboarding reporting submitted following each session.
  • Consistent monthly in-store field observation and coaching hours completed.
  • Demonstrated improvement in Sales Specialist product knowledge, sell-through and customer experience scores.
Qualifications
  • Technology training background is required — 3+ years designing and delivering product and sales training for consumer technology brands.
  • Experience training within major Canadian retail banners, ideally including Best Buy, Walmart and Staples.
  • Valid passport and the ability to travel to the United States for training, onboarding and program meetings.
  • Proven ability to deliver both in-person and virtual training to distributed, part-time field teams.
  • Strong facilitation, presentation and content-development skills; advanced PowerPoint and Google Slides capability.
  • Comfortable working from data — sales performance, survey results and field observations — to shape training priorities.
  • Valid driver's licence and ability to travel; flexible availability, as travel is at times required on short notice.
  • Strong English communication skills; French an asset.

Job requirements are subject to change at any time at the discretion of the company to align with evolving business needs.
