Job summary

Crofton House School in Vancouver seeks an experienced Music teacher for the Junior School (Junior Kindergarten to Grade 7) to cover a maternity leave. This full-time fixed-term contract is for 2026-2027 within an all-girls environment guided by inquiry-based learning and a collaborative teaching team.

The role focuses on planning and delivering a dynamic choral program, developing vocal technique, integrating the BC Curriculum, and coordinating with support teachers and the learning resources

Qualifications

• BC Teaching Certificate or equivalent required.
• Background in music education with emphasis on choral programs.
• Experience teaching Music to young children in an elementary setting.
• Piano and vocal training required.
• Experience in independent schools is an asset.
• Kodály/Orff training is an asset.
• Understanding of girls’ learning styles and collaborative work.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement a dynamic choral Music program for Junior School (Grade 4–7).
• Develop vocal technique in girls and integrate the BC Curriculum.
• Plan and teach collaboratively with a teaching partner.
• Support diverse learners and direct choirs, concerts, and performances.
• Prepare music for assemblies and school events.
• Engage in ongoing professional growth and contribute to co-curricular activities.

Crofton House School is seeking an experienced Music teacher. You will be part of a collaborative teaching team supporting the positive growth and development of young girls in the Junior School. Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience:

• B.C. Ministry of Education Certification
• Educational background that highlights Music
• Piano and vocal training required
• Experience in teaching Music with young children
• Independent school experience an asset
• Kodaly and/or Orff training an asset
• Demonstrated awareness of the learning styles of girls
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively
• Demonstrated ability to be innovative and flexible

Employment and Application Details:

Employees of Crofton House School receive competitive compensation and support for professional, educational and leadership development. Compensation: $69,541 - $123,242 depending on experience and education level.
