Job summary

City of Barrie is seeking an Operator 2 – Specialized Vehicle to help maintain roads and public works infrastructure. The role covers spring to fall road maintenance and winter plowing, sanding and salting to keep Barrie's roads safe for residents and visitors.

Candidates should have a secondary school diploma, Ontario class D license with Z endorsement, and at least one year of municipal construction experience, including heavy equipment operation.

Qualifications

• Secondary School Diploma.
• Valid Ontario Class D Driver's Licence with a Z endorsement in good standing.
• One year of municipal construction experience is preferred.
• Experience operating heavy equipment and vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Maintains roads and public works infrastructure year‑round, including roads, rail, parks and fleet maintenance.
• In spring/summer/fall, performs road maintenance and repairs; in winter, plows, sands and salts roads.
• Collects and disposes of roadside debris, litter and bulky items.
