Job summary

Corporation of the County of Dufferin is seeking a skilled Winter Maintenance Operator to join our Public Works team in Ontario. The role involves operating a tandem snow plow-sander, a wheeled loader, and a pickup for winter road patrol, with a focus on safety and efficiency during winter conditions.

The ideal candidate holds a Grade 12 diploma, a valid DZ license, and at least 2 years' experience in heavy equipment operation, road maintenance, and OH&S compliance.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
• Valid DZ driver's license required.
• First Aid training.
• Minimum 2 years of experience operating tandem snow plow-sander and loaders.
• Knowledge of road construction and maintenance best practices.
• Knowledge of OH&S legislation and WHMIS regulations.
• Capable of completing work forms and maintaining records.
• Compliant with Commercial Vehicle Operator Registration.

Responsibilities

• Operate a tandem snow plow with sand/salter and wing.
• Operate a wheeled loader to load sand and salt on winter maintenance vehicles.
• Operate pickup for winter road patrol and dispatch maintenance equipment.
• Respond to emergency calls and assist with road closures and cleanup after incidents.
• Monitor and record road conditions and forecast information.
• Dispatch snowplow equipment and assign routes to crews.
• Perform routine maintenance and assist with repairs as needed.
• Inspect traffic signals and record any sign damage or missing signs.
