Job summary

The City of Edmonton is seeking a senior accounting leader to oversee corporate accounting and financial reporting, including the Annual Financial Report and consolidated statements. You will coordinate the external audit and ensure accuracy of internal controls while supporting budget and performance reporting to Executive Leadership and City Council.

Collaborate with finance colleagues on enterprise projects and governance updates, while applying Municipal Government Act standards and CPA

Qualifications

• Knowledge, training and/or education in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related disciplines.
• CPA designation is required.
• Leadership experience in a large and complex environment.
• Experience with financial performance reporting and management accounting.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 3-4 Senior Accountants and oversee core reporting deliverables.
• Manage monthly/quarterly operating and capital reporting and budgets.
• Prepare consolidated financial statements and the Annual Financial Report.
• Coordinate external audits and address control deficiencies.
• Ensure reporting frameworks align with Public Sector Accounting Standards.
