Job summary

WSP Canada’s Calgary Land Development & Municipal Engineering (LDME) team is seeking a Municipal Design Engineer to design a wide range of projects—from residential subdivisions to municipal water and wastewater systems—and to help shape sustainable communities.

You will collaborate with experts to deliver designs, mentor junior engineers, liaise with agencies, and support proposals and bids to grow the business, while upholding Alberta standards.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of experience in municipal infrastructure or land development projects.
• Undergraduate degree or diploma in civil engineering.
• Professional Alberta designation (P.Eng./P.L. Eng./P.Tech.).
• Strong knowledge of local and environmental standards and guidelines.
• Proven design experience in sewer, watermain, and road projects.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver land development and municipal infrastructure projects, including site servicing, stormwater management, water resources, water distribution, sewage collection, and roadway design.
• Prepare detailed analyses, designs, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports.
• Provide technical advisory services and mentor junior team members to foster growth and excellence.
• Support field staff during contract administration and conduct field reviews for projects under construction.
• Liaise with municipal, utility, and approval agencies to ensure compliance and project success.
• Assist in preparing RFPs, bids, and proposal documents to secure new opportunities.
