Job summary

WSP in Calgary is seeking a Municipal Design Engineer to contribute to land development and municipal projects from residential subdivisions to water and wastewater systems. You will design, analyze, and document projects that improve communities while working with a talented LDME team.

Ideal candidates have 5–10 years of municipal infrastructure experience, an Alberta civil engineering credential, and familiarity with local standards and First Nations considerations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in civil engineering from an accredited institution.
• Professional designation in Alberta: P.Eng., P.L. Eng., or P.Tech.
• Strong knowledge of local and environmental standards and guidelines.
• Proven design experience in sewer, watermain, and road projects; familiarity with planning/approval processes.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver land development and municipal infrastructure projects (site servicing, stormwater, water resources, water distribution, sewage collection, road design).
• Prepare detailed analyses, designs, drawings, specs, cost estimates, and technical reports.
• Provide technical advisory services and mentor junior team members.
• Support field staff during contract administration and conduct field reviews during construction.
• Liaise with municipal, utility and approval agencies to ensure compliance and project success.
• Assist in preparing RFPs, bids, and proposals to win new opportunities.

Your Impact

Compensation

BC, AB, SK, NWT & NT: $89,800 - $118,900

MB & ON: $81,900 - $112,800

Atlantic Provinces & QC: $81,100 - $107,700
