Columbia Academy LLC in Downtown Vancouver is seeking an experienced High School Teacher for grades 8–12. You will develop engaging lesson plans, assess student progress, and foster an inclusive classroom culture while collaborating with peers and families to support student success.

The successful candidate will have strong subject knowledge, effective communication, and a team-oriented approach to school life, contributing to a dynamic academic community.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of teaching experience with secondary students.
  • BC Teacher Certificate (in good standing) required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in education; Master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic High School Teacher, to teach and inspire our students. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in high school education, a genuine passion for teaching, and the ability to create an engaging and inclusive classroom environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing lesson plans, assessing and evaluating student progress, fostering a positive classroom culture, and collaborating with colleagues and parents to ensure the holistic development of each student. Further, the successful candidate must be a team player and be flexible in their approach toward teaching and learning while serving as an integral part of our school culture.

Teacher positions are available in the following subjects. Capable of teaching the high school curriculum in accordance with the BC Ministry guidelines and the updated BC curriculum.

Required Education, Skills, And Qualifications:

The candidate for this position will possess the following criteria:

  • Minimum 5 Years of teaching experience with secondary students in relevant subject areas.
  • BC Teacher Certificate (in good standing - required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Excellent English written language and fluent oral communication skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to effectively plan, prioritize, and deliver lessons and assessments.
  • Proven experience teaching high school students, preferably within a diverse classroom setting.
  • Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to create a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to provide updates on student progress, address concerns, and maintain open lines of communication.
  • Attend and engage in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school events as required.
  • Stay up to date with current educational trends, research, and best practices to continuously improve teaching methodologies.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, collaboration, and a love for learning.
Benefits:
  • After completing a successful probationary period of three (3) months, the successful “full time teacher” candidate will be eligible to receive Extended health benefits (which is provided to full-time teachers)
  • PD training tuition fee reimbursement, where applicable
  • School events, including a skip trip, Ocean Cruise, Christmas dinner and other field excursions and celebration events.

Salary: $55,000.00-$70,000.00 per year. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
