High School Writing Teacher

Oxford Learning – Kitsilano seeks a dynamic Writing Specialist teacher experienced in High School Essay writing and Literature to teach students in a rewarding environment. The role focuses on delivering engaging lessons, overseeing small class sizes (up to three students), and supporting student progress using the Oxford Learning curriculum.

Position Requirements

• Work after‑school and evening hours (Mon‑Fri 3:30 pm – 7:00 pm) with occasional Saturdays (10:00 am – 1:00 pm); commitment through the school year preferred, including summer.
• Must teach in‑person at the Oxford Learning center in Vancouver, BC. No online or relocation options.
• Mandatory vulnerable sector screening.
• Reliable attendance and commitment to student success.

Education

• University degree / Bachelor’s in Education or related field (Master’s preferred).
• BC Teaching certification an asset.
• Good knowledge of the current Grade 7 – 12 curriculum.

Experience

• Experience teaching or tutoring at the Grade 7 – 12 level.
• Fluent, native‑level English communication skills.
• Ability to deliver interactive, student‑centered lessons.
• Dynamic, energetic, outgoing personality.
• Highly organized with multitasking skills for up to three students simultaneously.
