Job summary

Northumberland Hills Hospital is seeking a Mental Health Therapist (MSW) to provide therapy-based mental health services to individuals and groups with a serious mental illness within the Mental Health Department. The role includes service navigation, case management and community engagement, plus collaboration with partners to ensure access to housing, food, health care and transportation.

Requirements include a Master’s degree, current registration, CPR/First Aid, and strong communication

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in counseling/therapy/psychotherapy.
• Current registration in good standing with a professional college.
• CPR and First Aid Certification.
• Experience with serious mental illness in a community setting.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation principles.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counselling using evidence-based mental health assessments, therapies, and interventions.
• Assess changes in the client's behavior, psychiatric condition, or response to treatment and make recommendations.
• Assist clients in increasing awareness and using community resources for basic needs (food, shelter, health care, transportation).
• Advocate and liaison with community providers for case reviews, collaborative engagement, and clinical case management.
• Represent the mental health program during organizational and/or community committees.
