Job summary

Peoples Group in Toronto is seeking a Commercial Funding Assistant Manager to oversee day-to-day mortgage funding operations for commercial and multi-family lending from our Toronto offices. The role provides leadership, coaching, and risk-aware decision-making to ensure funding accuracy, compliance, and timely closing.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Bilingual in French/English considered an asset.
• 3–5 years of experience in commercial mortgage funding or related financial services.
• Leadership experience including coaching, development, and performance management.
• Strong knowledge of mortgage funding processes, loan documentation, and controls.
• Understanding of regulatory, AML, and risk management requirements within lending.
• Proven ability to manage escalated transactions and make risk-based decisions.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills with ability to prioritize deadlines.
• Excellent communication and relationship management across stakeholders.
• Experience with solicitors, insurers, CMHC, and other external service providers is an asset.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and mortgage administration systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily commercial and multi-family mortgage funding activities to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with terms.
• Review funding transactions for compliance with legal, credit, AML, and operational controls.
• Monitor pipelines, metrics, quality standards, and service levels; escalate issues as needed.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and development support to Commercial Funding Administrators.
• Manage escalated and complex funding matters, determining escalation to senior leadership.
• Deliver training on funding procedures, controls, and best practices.
• Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce risk.
• Collaborate with Sales, Treasury, LPS, Credit Risk, and other stakeholders to complete transactions.
• Coordinate with solicitors, insurers, CMHC, and external parties to meet funding requirements.
• Support audit readiness by ensuring documentation and records meet standards.
