Job summary

Canadian Tire Corporation is seeking an Industrial Electrician for our Calgary Distribution Centre. You will maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install electrical systems to ensure reliability and safety in a production environment.

The role requires an Alberta Red Seal (or Alberta approved equivalent) with 2+ years in production settings; 4th-year apprentices also encouraged. Join a safety‑driven team with opportunities for growth and competitive compensation.

Qualifications

Journeyperson Red Seal Industrial Electrician preferred; minimum 2 years electrical experience in production/manufacturing/distribution.
4th-year Electrical Apprentices with strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills are encouraged to apply.
Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems including 120/208V and 347/600V.
Hands-on experience with motor controls, VFDs, PLCs, and industrial automation equipment.
Strong mechanical aptitude for conveyor systems and building/blueprint reading.
Proficient with electrical testing equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
Knowledge of lockout/tagout procedures and electrical safety practices.
Ability to troubleshoot complex faults with minimal supervision.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Commitment to Health & Safety compliance.
Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work at heights up to 40 ft.
Basic computer skills: MS Word, Excel, CMMS (Maximo).
WHMIS and First Aid are assets.
High School Diploma or equivalent and proof of certification/work experience.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical systems on conveyors, shrink-wrap machines, dock levelers, and related equipment.
Perform preventive and corrective electrical maintenance on material-handling equipment and warehouse automation.
Install, maintain, and repair motors, VFDs, sensors, control panels, and power distribution systems.
Read electrical schematics, single‑line diagrams, drawings, and blueprints.
Apply PLC logic knowledge for troubleshooting and diagnostics.
Inspect and repair batteries and charging systems for powered equipment.
Support electrical installations, upgrades and modifications to existing equipment.
Lead/assist with mechanical conveyor work, adjustments and alignment.
Complete minor facility electrical repairs as required.
Operate facility equipment in line with safety procedures.
Support other departments and additional responsibilities as assigned.
Report equipment failures and safety concerns to Maintenance Supervisor/Manager.
Ensure work complies with Alberta Electrical Code, CSA standards, policies, and safety rules.
Maintain maintenance records using Maximo CMMS and other documentation.
Assist with training/mentoring apprentices and colleagues.
Promote a strong safety-first culture.
