Job summary

CBC Edmonton is seeking a dynamic Reporter Editor for the Edmonton AM morning program. This on-site role requires an energetic journalist who can analyze issues, pitch ideas, and craft content for live radio and digital platforms.

You will gather, write, edit, and package content, present stories on air, and expand reach across social, digital and visual channels while ensuring diversity of perspectives and adherence to journalistic standards.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced daily news environment.
• Strong writing and storytelling skills across platforms.
• Ability to generate, pitch and pursue story ideas for Edmonton and northern Alberta.

Responsibilities

• Pitch well-researched, original story ideas engaging the audience.
• Chase and book guests, conduct research, gather audio, write scripts, and package content.
• Write, edit and package Edmonton AM content for digital and visuals platforms.
• Present stories on air, in studio and in the field with context and analysis.
• Respond quickly to breaking news and distill complex information under time pressure.
• Deliver exclusive material and enterprise reporting regularly.
• Develop sources and relationships to broaden perspectives and voices.
• Coordinate with colleagues to optimize reach across platforms.
