Job summary

TerraVerti Industries Inc. in Saskatoon, SK, is seeking a Molecular Technician to perform routine molecular biology experiments, including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR/qPCR, and gel electrophoresis, under senior scientists’ guidance.

You will prepare reagents, maintain records, assist with data collection, and ensure SOPs and safety standards are followed while supporting inventory and cross-team collaboration in a fast-paced research environment.

Qualifications

• Foundational molecular biology competencies including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR/qPCR, gel electrophoresis, and related techniques.
• Laboratory operations skills such as reagent preparation, equipment maintenance, sample handling, and adherence to SOPs.
• Data and documentation abilities including accurate record-keeping, basic data analysis, and clear reporting of experimental results.
• Safety and quality focus with knowledge of laboratory safety practices, biosafety guidelines, and quality control principles.
• Collaborative and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and communicate clear design.
• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Plant Science, Genetics, or a closely related field.
• Experience in plant molecular biology, seed or crop research, or agricultural biotechnology is considered an asset.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced research environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine molecular biology experiments (DNA/RNA extraction, PCR/qPCR, gel electrophoresis, cloning) under guidance of senior scientists.
• Prepare reagents and buffers, maintain accurate laboratory records, and assist with data collection, analysis, and documentation.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment in compliance with standard operating procedures and safety standards.
• Support sample organization, inventory management, and collaboration with research and breeding teams to advance TerraVerti’s projects.

Role Description
