Job summary

Renaissance BioScience Corp. in Vancouver, BC, seeks a Research Technician, Molecular Biology, to support strain engineering and optimization across yeast, bacteria, and VLP RNAi platforms.

You will work under the Lead Research Scientist on a collaborative R&D team at the UBC campus. The ideal candidate holds a BSc or MSc in life sciences, with hands-on molecular biology experience and strong teamwork, English communication, and problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in a life science (microbiology, biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology or related).
• Experience with yeast, bacteria or fungi is advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail, time management and organizational skills.
• Exemplary teamwork, collaboration, and communication in English.

Responsibilities

• Assist and support R&D projects for strain engineering, optimization, and characterization.
• Independently execute molecular biology workflows including construct design and assembly, gene editing, DNA and RNA extraction, PCR, RT-qPCR, Southern and Northern blot, transformation, SDS-PAGE, Western blot, and cell culturing (yeast + bacteria).
• Collaborate with molecular biology, analytical chemistry, and related departments.
• Foster an entrepreneurial mindset and seek improvements and innovations.
• Provide regular updates on project progress and results.
