Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Mold Maintenance Technician for a contract-to-hire role based in Brampton, ON. You will perform mold setup, preventive maintenance, and teardown activities coordinating with production planning and molding teams.

The role requires 3+ years in CNC setup/maintenance, mold tooling experience, and overhead crane proficiency. You will document activities, support continuous improvement, and work fully onsite.

Qualifications

• Troubleshooting CNC and tooling issues in a molding environment.
• 3+ years in CNC setup and maintenance within manufacturing.
• Experience with mold changes, tooling, and maintenance practices.
• Overhead crane operation experience is required.
• Strong background in a manufacturing setting with heavy lifting.
• Proven ability to install, maintain, and repair production machinery.

Responsibilities

• Perform mold breakdown and teardown after production runs.
• Conduct preventive and planned maintenance on molds and tooling.
• Inspect molds for wear or damage and address concerns.
• Troubleshoot mold-related issues and assist root-cause analysis.
• Coordinate with Tooling Eng, Molding, and contractors to resolve issues.
• Maintain mold storage, tooling records, and traceability.
• Document maintenance activities using established forms.
• Operate cranes, hoists, forklifts for mold movement and setup.
• Support continuous improvement for mold reliability and downtime reduction.
• Follow safety practices and company procedures.
• Train teammates on standard setup and maintenance procedures.
• Avail for other maintenance tasks supporting production.
• Perform other duties in tooling and molding operations.

Job Title: Mold Maintenance Technician Job Description

In this role, you will perform mold set-up and changeovers in coordination with production planning and molding operations. You will verify mold configurations, tooling components, and setup readiness prior to the start of production, and execute both preventive and planned maintenance on molds.

Responsibilities

• Perform mold breakdown and teardown activities following production runs.
• Execute preventive and planned maintenance on molds, including cleaning, inspection, lubrication, and replacement of wear components.
• Inspect molds and components for wear, damage, or performance concerns including bushings, pins, inserts, fasteners, and other critical tooling elements.
• Troubleshoot mold-related production issues and assist in identifying root causes of setup, tooling, or maintenance concerns.
• Coordinate with Tooling Engineering, Molding personnel, and third-party contractors to resolve tooling issues and support corrective actions.
• Maintain mold storage, inventory, tooling records, and traceability of tooling components.
• Document maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and tooling conditions using established systems and forms.
• Safely operate cranes, hoists, forklifts, and other lifting equipment for mold movement, setup, and storage.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on mold reliability, setup efficiency, PM effectiveness, and reduction of downtime.
• Maintain safe work practices and ensure compliance with all company procedures, safety standards, and regulations.
• Train and support team members on standardized setup and maintenance procedures as required.
• Be available for other maintenance-related activities supporting production needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of tooling and molding operations.

Work Environment

This position is within a manufacturing environment requiring stooping, standing, frequent walking, and heavy lifting (frequent 25 lbs + up to 50 lbs). It involves variable hand/power tool use. Training will be provided on a straight shift for the first 3 months.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.14 - $31.51/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
