Job summary

Silver Lake Resources is seeking an Underground Maintenance Supervisor to lead the mechanical maintenance team on site in Ontario. You will supervise direct reports, align equipment, and support oil sampling and vibration analysis programs while coordinating with planning and other departments.

The role requires Red Seal or equivalent underground supervisory experience, strong CMMS and Microsoft Office skills, and a solid understanding of the Ontario Mining Act.

Qualifications

  • Red Seal in trade is required.
  • Underground supervisory core or 12 months experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario Mining Act and CMMS systems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and planning tools.

Responsibilities

  • Guide direct reports through equipment installation and alignment.
  • Identify and support oil sampling and vibration analysis programs.
  • Delegate work assignments and train apprentices.
  • Oversee performance and coach direct reports.
  • Maintain filing and paperwork up to date.
  • Enter work orders in CMMS and ensure lead times.
  • Coordinate with other departments for planning and scheduling.

Knowledge / Skills / Duties
  • Guide direct reports through basic equipment installation from foundation work through to equipment alignment
  • Identify and support the use of the oil sampling program
  • Identify and support the use of vibration analysis trending (presently quarterly)
  • Succession planning - always be looking to identify potential candidate(s) that fit your role -
  • Delegate work assignments according to skill levels, weekly plans (or established schedules) and urgent needs
  • Guide & train apprentices through assignments based on their current skill levels and ability for growth
  • Respond to urgent matters as they arise (those requiring completion w/in 14 days)
  • Enter work requests into system for work identified allowing ample lead time to allow planner involvement
  • Enter urgent order request ensuring all requirements to
    • obtain parts
    • assign manpower
    • allow for shop time
  • Enter work order history into the CMMS when required, particularly related to urgent work performed
  • Ensure input into the CMMS is accurate and up to date
  • Oversee and coach the performance of direct reports
  • Maintain partnerships with other departments through good communication practices
  • Identify and groom potential subordinate(s) / candidates for succession planning purposes
  • Ensure that filing and paperwork are kept up to date by all
  • Collect and properly dispose of used service parts from oils, oil pails/barrels, filters old hosing to keep SLR compliant with site environmental requirements
  • Undertake other duties as lawfully instructed

  • Contribute to the development and revision of Policies and Procedures for the Mine Mechanical Maintenance team
Planning & Organisation
  • Identify and classify what requires urgent attention during equipment servicing and what can be directed through planning department for addressing subsequently.
  • Proactively identify and address hazards before they arise as issues.
  • Be punctual to work and all required site meetings.
  • Maintain equipment files - keep current with Preventive Maintenance and Work order paperwork
Experience
  • Red Seal in trade or 12,000 hrs in the trade
  • Underground Supervisory common core or obtain w/I 12 months
  • Strong working knowledge of the Ontario Mining act
  • Proficient in Microsoft office suite programs
  • Competent with working within CMMS programs
  • Able to inspect and troubleshoot mechanical equipment ensuring it is fit for purpose and complies with manufacturers’ and/or Company standards
  • Proficient in Microsoft office suite programs
  • Comfortable working within CMMS programs
  • Valid Driver License
  • Some previous supervisory experience either with SLR or with other Underground mining/milling operations.
  • Some level of experience in all aspects of mechanical maintenance site wide
  • Working knowledge of mechanical maintenance applications at an UG mine site
