Job summary

Coeur Mining's New Afton mine near Kamloops, BC, is hiring a Maintenance Labourer to support the maintenance technicians in underground and surface operations. This six-month role follows a 7 on 7 off, 11-hour shift pattern and reports to the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor.

You will perform routine wash and cleaning tasks, assist with equipment servicing, move parts to underground shops, and carry out general labour duties in both surface and underground environments.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
• Experience operating Skidsteer, MultiMec and Toyota Landcruiser is an asset.
• Preference for candidates with industrial mechanical shop experience and high mechanical aptitude.

New Afton

Situated 10 kilometers west of Kamloops, British Columbia, the New Afton mine is an underground gold and copper producing site. Kamloops is a city of 105,000 people, located 350 kilometers east of Vancouver. About The Role

Schedule: 7 on 7 off, 11-hour shifts, rotating days and night shifts

Duration: Six (6) months

Position Reports To: Mobile Maintenance Supervisor

Position Overview: As an integral part of the New Afton Maintenance team, the Maintenance Labourer will provide support to the Maintenance Technicians.

Key Responsibilities

• Routine washing of equipment
• Assisting maintenance personnel in keeping equipment clean and ready for servicing
• Monitoring the condition of wash bays both on surface and underground
• Transportation of parts to the underground mobile shops
• General labour duties as required around the maintenance shops both on surface and underground

Qualifications

• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
• Experience in operating Skidsteer, MultiMec, and Toyota Landcruiser is an asset
• Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working in industrial mechanical shops, cleaning complex equipment and experience with high pressure washing operations and/or have completed the Heavy Duty Equipment Technician pre-apprenticeship
• High Mechanical aptitude

Other Requirements

Candidates will be required to participate in a comprehensive qualification process, including:

• Successful completion of pre-placement functional screen
• Provide proof of a valid Class 5 driver’s license
• Demonstrate eligibility to work in Canada
• Provide confirmation of valid educational requirements

Compensation

The anticipated salary for this position will be between $60,000 to $70,000. A comprehensive benefits program and performance bonus plan will also be provided. This is not a camp operation and therefore the successful candidate will be required to relocate to the Kamloops area or travel and accommodation will be the responsibility of the successful applicant.
