Job summary

WSP is seeking a Mining Technical Lead in Canada to drive technical leadership, project delivery, and market growth in the mining sector. You will mentor teams, oversee complex mining projects from concept through construction, and expand WSP’s presence in Canada.

This role requires deep experience in mining, geotechnical or civil engineering, and a strong track record delivering mining projects across varying site conditions. P.Eng. in BC preferred; strong communication essential.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in mining, geotechnical or civil engineering or construction, including at least 5 years focused on mining projects.
• Experience delivering mining projects across varying site conditions and project types.
• Understanding of mine closure, mine stability, tailings and water management.
• Experience in EPCM/CM/prime contractor delivery models.
• Demonstrated leadership in technical reviews, design oversight, and project execution.
• Familiarity with the Canadian mining market, client landscape, and regulatory environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical delivery of complex mining projects, ensuring safe, innovative, and cost-effective solutions.
• Drive planning and implementation of construction projects.
• Provide SME on construction methodologies across diverse project environments.
• Oversee project execution from concept through construction, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget targets.
• Mentor and develop junior and intermediate engineers to strengthen technical capability.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate execution into mining projects.
• Support business development by identifying opportunities and expanding WSP’s mining market presence in Canada.
• Build strong client relationships, delivering trusted advisory services and technical excellence.
