Job summary

Suncor is seeking a proven project leader to drive large mining and tailings projects from planning to execution at our Calgary office. The role emphasizes strong safety performance, cross-functional collaboration, and disciplined project execution across contractors and stakeholders.

You will lead complex projects, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver measurable outcomes while maintaining a focus on safety, quality, and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Technical diploma or university degree with ten years of increasing responsibility on large resource projects
• 4-8 years project leadership experience on execution of diverse projects
• Experience with risk identification, analysis and mitigation/management
• Experience with Contractor and Supplier Management
• Oil & Gas and/or Mining and Tailings field experience is an asset
• APEGA (P.Eng) membership is considered an asset

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates and models purposeful and visible safety leadership
• Ensures compliance with regulatory EH&S practices and procedures
• Understand construction in mining and tailings environments to mitigate risks and hazards in the field
• Coordinate with regulatory SME for managed scope and ensure compliance by Suncor and contractors
• Manage the Project Legal Registry and RC tool
• Hazards are assessed and managed through design and construction; support hazard reviews
• Assist in the development of the Integrated Project Execution Plan and manage project work and integrated team members
