Job summary

Hatch Ltd. in Sudbury, Ontario, is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to design and deliver surface and underground mining infrastructure. You will lead the structural analysis, develop design criteria, and support projects through all phases from concept to commissioning.

The ideal candidate will have 5–7 years in mining structural design, P.Eng. status would be advantageous, and hands-on knowledge of concrete, steel, and heavy industrial facilities.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of experience in structural design for underground and surface mining infrastructure
• P.Eng. registration with PE Ontario or equivalent would be advantageous
• BSc/BEng in Civil Engineering; Master’s would be advantageous
• In-depth knowledge of structural concrete and structural steelwork; knowledge of dynamic loading advantageous
• Experience with PROKON; working knowledge of Strand7 and STAAD.Pro advantageous
• Working knowledge of Bentley ProjectWise and OpenBuildings Designer (MicroStation) advantageous

Responsibilities

• Develop structural design basis and criteria
• Develop technical specifications for construction
• Review bid submissions and TEAR
• Develop structural designs from Concept through Execution
• Perform structural analysis and design calculations
• Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams across mining, civil, mechanical, electrical and process disciplines
• Review drawings and fabrication drawings; mentor junior engineers
• Conduct site inspections and provide technical reporting
• Assist with tender bid documents and risk reviews
• Ensure compliance with SHEQ and contract requirements
